When your craving for chocolate hits, those spicy raw cacao truffles are exactly the answer ! The addition of chili powder and sea salt makes those truffles “multitaskers” π Unlike regular truffles which are made with heavy cream and chocolate, I made those ones with cashews and raw cacao powder.

To make those truffles, you need a good coffee or nut grinder (I used Nutribullet ) to grind the cashews into a fine powder and use it as a base, then add the remaining ingredients.
If you are not a fan of spicy food, you can skip the chili powder but if you’re intrigued to try, you will be surprised ! the mix of sweet and spicy is incredibly delicious.

Ingredients (for 22 – 25 truffles)
– 1 1/2 cup raw cashews
– 1 tsp cinnamon
– 1/4 tsp chili powder
– 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
– 1/2 tsp Sea Salt
– 3/4 cup + 2 tbsp raw cacao powder
– 2/3 maple syrup
– 1/2 cup coconut oil
– 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
1) Start with grinding the cashews into a fine powder (I used Nutribullet).
2) Transfer the powdered cashews into a medium bowl, add the cinnamon and chili powder , cayenne and Sea salt.
3) Add 3/4 cup cacao powder, the coconut oil and maple syrup then the vanilla. Stir with a wooden spoon or your hand until well combined. It will be sticky, that’s fine, keep it in the fridge for 10 minutes to harden.
4) Roll the truffle mixture into balls then roll the balls into the remaining cacao powder. If you still find it too sticky, roll the balls then place them in the fridge for another 10 – 15 minutes then you will be able to roll them into the cacao powder more easily.
5) Put the truffles in the fridge, they will become firm. Eat one whenever you feel like a healthy snack π they are better stored in the fridge and eaten cold and firm.
Let me know when you try them !
